Electronic Resource Discovery and Management Service

Gold Rush is an electronic resource and discovery service developed by the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries to help libraries manage subscriptions to electronic resources and provide improved public access for their electronic journals and databases. Gold Rush is a Web-based central digital registry of databases and electronic journals (both stand-alone and titles embedded within aggregated services). The service is centrally maintained and requires no programming or technical expertise at participating libraries.

The Content

  • Over 50,000 journals are available from approximately 900 aggregators, publishers, and indexing/abstracting services

  • Title lists are obtained directly from the providers and publishers and are regularly updated into the online system

  • Journal titles have been enhanced with additional Library of Congress and Medical Subject Headings through a harvesting process

  • The service includes both full-text journals as well as titles that are just indexed

  • Thousands of open access journals are available at no additional cost

Public Access

  • Easy-to-use Web interface for finding electronic journal content embedded within aggregators, databases and primary publishers. Real-time A-Z journal lists and advanced searching.

  • Full functioning OpenURL link resolver including article-level linking

  • All searching is scoped to resources available at just your library

  • User can easily switch library affiliations to find what resources are available at partner libraries

  • Easy management of proxy server information, date thresholds, embargo periods and public display notes.

  • Can customize the public search interface through simple HTML and cascading style sheets to brand the service for your community

Staff Applications

  • Electronic resource management (ERM) system for managing electronic journals, databases or database packages

  • Libraries can quickly and easily add their "ownership" to title lists to populate what appears in the public interface and OpenURL resolver. No delays.

  • Powerful report generator that compares the content in different title lists even if you do not subscribe to a product
