Journal Holdings on WilsonWeb – Dynamic
This free service links your OPAC with your WilsonWeb
database, which provides your patrons with information about your
library’s holdings. In Search Results, users will see a Library Owns
icon next to each record that has an ISSN or ISBN number. By clicking on
that icon, the user will be taken outside WilsonWeb into the library’s
OPAC system to find out whether or not a publication is in the library’s
collection.
WilsonWeb Dynamic Holdings works with almost all OPAC
systems, including:
-
DRA
-
Voyager2000
-
Innovative
-
Sirsi
-
Voyager
-
WebPals
How it works:
Dynamic Holdings searches your web-based OPAC system by
ISSN or ISBN. Periodically it is necessary to request that your OPAC
provider run a fix on your journal holdings data, to make sure that
hyphens and numbers are all in a consistent location.
To activate the Dynamic Holdings feature, the library
administrator should go to the Wilson Subscriber Administration Module,
click the Access button (User Classes in the left toolbar).
Next look for the Dynamic Holdings button that will launch the page
for entering your data. It is necessary to enter the following
information:
-
OPAC name selected from the dropdown box. Notice that
there is some initialization of the system displaying, once the name is
selected.
-
Enter the library’s base OPAC URL search string into
the text entry box.
