Many of Wilson retrospective products retain original subject
headings, thereby offering a revealing and historically
valuable look at the way the issues of the day were once framed.
Updated subject headings in the Wilson thesaurus
facilitate searching via contemporary terminology. Original (or
"historical") subject headings also appear in the records and, because of
this, those that are different from the current heading provide a unique
perspective on the historical characterization of issues and a reminder
about the evolution of social conversation (for example, "ministers of the
gospel" as the historical term for "clergy").
This list does not encompass all of the
historical, and corresponding contemporary, headings in the Wilson
Retrospective indexes.
