How Wilson Counts Periodicals for the Journal Directory

A journal that has had several titles in its lifetime will be counted only once in the Wilson Journal Directory count number, although all titles will appear on the journal list that is displayed. Although separate records are created for each title for publications that have changed the title of a journal, records for former titles are excluded from the count. Records for periodicals that have ceased or suspended publication or that have been dropped from indexing are included as long as that journal’s content remains in the Wilson database.

Wilson uses the CTJ field (Count This Journal) as the basis for determining the journal count for our Journal Directory. The CTJ field represents the code that indicates whether a periodical should be included in the count of periodicals indexed.
