WilsonWeb Administration Customization Options Chart

   
 

Site Administration - initially includes the “Welcome” screen or the “Important Message” screen.

Configure Terminal

Assign a unique ID and Password for a specific terminal. Only includes Wilson default settings (not customizable.)

Reset Password

Assign a new password for accessing the WilsonWeb terminal for all patrons (only one password per terminal is possible).

Reset Administration Password

Allows Administrator to change password used to access WilsonWeb Administration Module.

Configuration

1. Define User Classes

Create user classes to optimize customization for WilsonWeb, as well as tracking usage statistics.

2. User Class Defaults                                                  Defaults (if no changes are applied)

Choose between the Advanced Search, Basic Search, Browse or Thesaurus as your Default Search Screen.

Advanced Search

Select the Preferred Advanced Search "As:" Dropdown Choice. The choice is between the All-Smart Search and Keyword Search.

Select to include only Non-Peer Reviewed journals in search results, eliminating all Peer-Reviewed journals/articles. Yes or No. No

Controls

1. Button Text

Select options in English and other languages.

Customize the Basic Search, Advanced Search, Browse, Thesaurus, Search History and the Print, Email, Save button, the Create Alerts and Exporting/Citing buttons. Choose from several English language options as well as Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese.

2. Toolbars (Miscellaneous buttons/links)
Display soon to be updated.

Typing in any new value a user wants can customize the options that appear in the miscellaneous buttons/links of WilsonWeb. This includes the button name, the tooltip (mouse over) and the inactive mouse over.

3. Co-Branding

Load up to 2 custom logos (for each User Class created) onto the WilsonWeb interface, which will be seen on the upper center section of the search screens. Each logo can be made into a hyperlink to a desired URL.

4. Custom Links

Add up to three custom links to any websites, which will appear at the top of the search screen.

5. Email Message A message can be created by the library that  will accompany each email sent through WilsonWeb (max. 200 characters/spaces). The text can include a hyperlink to a site of the library's choice (Ex. their Home Page).

Access

1. IP Addresses Access

After a range of IP addresses has been submitted to Wilson Technical Support, use this feature to then assign those IP addresses to User Classes for added customization and seamless access. An IP range may also be deleted.

2. Patron ID Access

Submit a range of Patron IDs to Wilson Technical Support, and use this feature to then assign those ID numbers to User Classes for added customization and seamless access to the WilsonWeb. Ranges may be deleted.

3. Database Access

Grant or Restrict access to databases by User Class. If no User Classes are created, all databases will be granted.

4. Restrict Functions

Grant or Restrict Print, Email, Save and Search History functions by User Class. If no User Classes are created, the default setting is that no functions will be restricted.

5. Dynamic Holdings

Choose the library’s OPAC Query Name from a list of over 100 different choices. Customize the Dynamic Holdings icon, icon label text, and alternate text.

6. WilsonLink

Wilson's predefined link Menu #1 is the default setting.

WilsonWeb offers three pre-defined link menu options (Menu 1, 2, and 3) which are produced using SFX link server technology from Ex Libris (USA) Inc. It links seamlessly to other sources of Full Text direct from WilsonWeb. Alternately the library's link server can be selected, if the library already has its own. No link server desired is also a choice.

Next, determine which type of records the logo will appear next to (full text, non-full text, book citation).

Customize the Link Menu Icon, Icon Menu Icon Label and the Link Menu Icon Alternate Text, if desired.

7. InterLibrary Loan WilsonWeb offers a link out to the library’s own ILL form.

8. Proxy Server For those using a proxy server, a prepend may be added for each query search string.
9. Shibboleth Authentication Select from the following affiliations, if they apply. UK federation, SWITCHaai, or US Higher Education (InCommon).
