1. Overview

The purpose of this Administrator’s Manual is to assist the library’s administrator in customizing many possible features of the New WilsonWeb. Default settings are already in place for most customizable features to minimize the actual work that will be required. The default settings are based upon careful surveys of WilsonWeb customers, librarians, and our own experience. You will find this administration program makes it easy to organize, configure, and customize WilsonWeb for all Users and Groups of Users within the library. Any customization changes you make to your WilsonWeb system using the Administrator could take up to one business day before they actually take effect. Please be assured that all changes made and saved will occur.

Additional features include the ability to control access to the system, customize elements of the interface itself; for example, unique button names can be selected, as well as, placing the library logo on each screen.

The Subscriber Administration Screens are organized into three sections:

  • Site Administration – site-related access features including configuration of access terminals and amending passwords

  • User Class Administration – interface customization for various User Classes (or Groups)

  • Reports (Usage Statistics) – a link to Statistical Usage reports

Each subsection on the left toolbar expands when the appropriate button is pressed to show the related sub-options. Other administration functions not covered by the Administration Program, but required for management are:

  • Administrator's ID / Password

  • Usage Reports – It will be possible to have a separate ID / Password from that used to gain access to the Administration Program, for security purposes. Also, a separate manual is provided for Usage Reports and may be found on the Wilson Home Page.

  • Static Holdings – Information about Static Holdings may be found on the Wilson Home Page.
