19. User Classes > Access > Database Access
The Database Access screen gives the administrator the ability to
either grant or remove access to each database on a User Class basis. For
example, in an academic library, it would be possible to grant access for
a WilsonWeb science database to a science library and remove access for
another User Class such as an art library where it would not be relevant.
Granting or removing access to each database is done on a User Class
basis.
This screen shows only the databases that the customer has access to. It
then displays on a User Class basis both the current name of the database
for the User Class, and whether or not that individual user class has
access to that database; functionality within this page is separated.
First, click on the Access button. Several appropriate buttons will
then appear on the left toolbar, including the Database Access
button. Click Database Access Criteria.
Note: By default a new User Class is granted access to all of the
databases available to the customer as a whole.
In order to Limit (or to restore) Database Access Rights, you must change
the dropdown for a database from Granted to Not Granted.
Then click the Save Access button so the access changes will be
saved to the system.
Remember to assign User Class to a valid access type.
Note: The administrator cannot grant access to databases above and
beyond those that come from the HW Wilson Access Control system.
