By Subway, Bus, and Taxi

You can reach the H.W. Wilson Company by taking the "D" train of the 6th Avenue Independent Subway, the #4 (Woodlawn Express) of the East Side IRT Lexington Avenue Subway, or the Broadway-242nd Street local of the IRT West Side Subway (connecting with the #13 Ogden Avenue bus at 181st Street between Broadway and Wadsworth Avenue--see instructions below).

Exit at 161st Street, River Avenue Station (Yankee Stadium).
Take the #13, Ogden Avenue bus. The bus stop is directly in front of McDonalds.
Get off at 162nd Street, Ogden Avenue.
At 162nd Street, turn left and walk one block to the back entrance of the Company at 945 Summit Avenue.
If you decide to take a taxi instead of the bus, tell the driver to go to 162nd Street and Summit Avenue. We advise you not to mention University Avenue in order to avoid a round-about ride.
If you decide to walk from the 161st Street Subway Station to H.W. Wilson, it will take you about 10 minutes.
Walk West on 161st Street. Take the underpass and continue towards Ogden Avenue.
Turn right on Ogden Avenue, and continue walking for a block and a half.
When you reach 162nd Street, turn left and walk one block to the main entrance of the Company at 945 Summit Avenue.
You will see H.W. Wilson immediately because there is a lighthouse at the top of the building that you can't miss!
Note: The door is only open until 4:30 p.m.

By Bus

The #13 Ogden Avenue bus runs from 181st Street (between Broadway and Wadsworth Avenue) to River Avenue on 161st Street.

Get off the bus at 162nd Street and Ogden Avenue.
Turn right and walk west one block to the main entrance of the Company at 945 Summit Avenue.
You will see H.W. Wilson immediately because there is a lighthouse at the top of the building that you can't miss!
Note: The door is only open until 4:30 p.m.
Please telephone if you intend to arrive after that hour.

By Car

We suggest that you drive on I87 South. In the Bronx, I87 is called the Major Deegan Expressway, and it can be reached directly from the Tappan Zee Bridge by traveling west on I287, west on the Cross County Parkway, or west on the Cross Bronx Expressway.

Continue on the Major Deegan, Southbound
Get off at exit 6.
Stay in the left lane on the exit ramp, exit left off the ramp
Then make an immediate left as if you were heading back toward the Deegan North.
Follow the service road as if you were getting on the Deegan North.
Do NOT get on the Deegan; remain on the service road (bearing right) towards University Avenue.
Note: as you come up the ramp you can see the building with the lighthouse on the roof—that's H.W. Wilson!
Drive up University Avenue to 165th street. Make a right turn on 165th street.
Go one block. Make a right on Summit Avenue.
H.W. Wilson is approximately half a block down the street. You will see a long walkway with an awning.

By Car from the Triboro Bridge

Take the Major Deegan Expressway north to the W. 155th Street Stadium exit.

Drive onto Sedgwick Avenue, which is parallel and adjacent to the Major Deegan Expressway.
The Wilson Company is just a block ahead, on the right, at the junction of Sedgwick and University Avenue.
Drive up University Avenue to 165th street. Make a right turn on 165th street.
Go one block. Make a right on Summit Avenue.
H.W. Wilson is approximately half a block down the street. You will see a long walkway with an awning.

By Car from the Whitestone Bridge/Throggs Neck Bridge

Follow the signs for the Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95 South).
Stay on the Cross Bronx until you come to the exit for I87 (Deegan Expressway).
Take this exit and stay to the right when the road forks (left fork is for Amsterdam Ave.). The road will fork again; take the left fork for I-87 South.
Stay on the Deegan Expressway until you come to the exit for E. 161st Street, Macombs Dam Bridge.
Take this exit and at the end of the ramp, turn left, then make the first right for Deegan Expressway Upstate (I-87 North).
Curve around underneath the overpass and stay to the left when the road forks. The road will fork again; stay to the right onto University Avenue (left fork is Major Deegan entrance ramp, middle fork is Sedgwick Avenue).
The Wilson Company is just a block ahead, on the right, at the junction of Sedgwick and University Avenue.
Drive up University Avenue to 165th street. Make a right turn on 165th street.
Go one block. Make a right on Summit Avenue.
H.W. Wilson is approximately half a block down the street. You will see a long walkway with an awning.

By Car from Manhattan (East Side)

Drive North on the East River Drive (FDR) to the Willis Avenue Bridge
Bear left on the Willis Avenue Bridge and follow signs to the Major Deegan Expressway North
Take the Major Deegan Expressway North to the W. 155th Stadium exit (exit 5).
As you come down the exit ramp go through the light and follow the service road as if you were getting on the Deegan North.
Do NOT get on the Deegan but remain on the service road (bearing right) to University Avenue.
Note: as you come down the exit ramp you can see the building with the lighthouse on the roof.
Drive up University Avenue to 165th Street.
Make a right turn on 165th.

By Car from Manhattan (West Side)

Take the West Side Highway (Henry Hudson Parkway) north toward the George Washington Bridge.

Follow signs for Cross Bronx Expressway.
Remain in the right lane.
Follow signs to Major Deegan SOUTH.
Take Exit 6, at bottom of ramp turn left, proceed under bridge and immediately turn left again up ramp.
As you come up the ramp follow the service road as if you were getting on the Deegan North.
Do NOT get on the Deegan but remain on the service road (bearing right) on to University Avenue.
Note: as you come up the ramp you can see the H.W. Wilson building with the lighthouse on the roof.
Drive up University avenue to 165th Street.
Make a right turn on 165th.
Go one block, and then make a right on Summit Avenue.

By Car from Brooklyn

Drive through the Brooklyn Tunnel to the West Side Highway.

Keep driving north to the 157th Street Exit.
Drive east on 155th Street to the Macombs Dam Bridge. (From here follow directions as given below.) An alternate route is via Manhattan. (See above.)
After Crossing the Macombs Dam Bridge:
Immediately after crossing the bridge take the second turn to the right, the curving one marked Major Deegan Expressway Upstate (not the first right angle turn marked Major Deegan Expressway and Triboro Bridge)
Immediately after passing under the bridge take the first right, then quickly turn left onto Sedgwick Avenue which is parallel and adjacent to the Major Deegan Expressway.
The Wilson Company is just a block ahead, on the right, at the junction of Sedgwick and University Avenue.
Drive up University Avenue to 165th street. Make a right turn on 165th street.
Go one block. Make a right on Summit Avenue.
H.W. Wilson is approximately half a block down the street. You will see a long walkway with an awning.

By Car from New Jersey

Follow signs to the George Washington Bridge from the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95), I-80, US Route 4, US Route 46, or the Palisades Interstate Parkway.

Take the Upper or Lower Level of the Bridge. Follow the signs for the Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) South.
On the upper level, stay in the second from the left lane until you have passed under the Bus Station and Apartments. Move to the right when the lanes from the lower level merge, to the Exit.
On the lower level of the Bridge, stay in the far right lane. It will become the center lane under the Bus Station and Apartments. Stay in that lane until the lanes from the upper level merge.
Move to the right for the Exit. The sign says Deegan Expressway, Triboro Bridge.
Follow the Major Deegan Expressway south to Exit 6.
At the bottom of the ramp, turn left underneath the bridge, then immediately left again and up the ramp.
Drive north, parallel to the Major Deegan Expressway. Stay to the right to avoid going onto the northbound Major Deegan Expressway.
There is a lighthouse on top of the building that you can't miss!
