Outstanding Library of Congress Collections

Thousands of images, culled from six renowned
digital collections of the Library of Congress, Prints and
Photographs Division, will be added to Art Museum Image Gallery. The
new images will include American landscapes, portrait photography of
celebrities, including many from the Harlem Renaissance, and an
extensive poster collection.

African American Photographs Assembled For 1900 Paris Exposition
(1899) Photos gathered for use in the American Negro Exhibit at the
Paris Exposition, consisting of portraits and scenes of education,
work, and daily life. Includes photos presented by W.E.B. Du Bois.

Prints: Japanese
(1688-1915) Primarily woodcuts depicting actors, women, landscapes,
scenes from Japanese literature and daily life, English and European
visitors.

Collection
(1934-ca. 1950) Snapshots documenting sound recording expeditions
carried out by John Avery Lomax, Alan Lomax, and Ruby Terrill Lomax
for the Archive of American Folk Song, including African American
and Latino musicians, singers, and dancers, primarily in the
southern United States and the Bahamas.

62,500 images spanning works from 3,000 BC to the 20th century. The
Art Archive is a fine art and historical image library with works
from over 1,800 distinguished sources worldwide. Areas of special
strength include ancient civilizations, American, European and
Medieval history, world religions, and classical music, in addition
to iconic images from the history of art and architecture. Full
bibliographic records accompany every image. The images are drawn
from the collections of the most respected museums of Europe,
