Raymond Barber was appointed Special Consultant to the Wilson Core Collections and Editor of the Senior High Core Collection in May 2006. He began his relationship with the company in 1981 as an committee member for the Junior High Core Collection and chaired that advisory panel for the past three editions. He is responsible for CoreCollections.net, school-libraries.net, editing the Senior High Core Collection, special projects dealing with the Wilson Core Collections, and publisher relations. He has worked in school and public libraries and taught library science at several universities. Ray Barber holds the following degress: BA in history and English (University of Akron), MS in library science (University of Kentucky), advanced masters in library science (Florida State University), and PhD in educational administration (Florida State University). He is a member of ALA (AASL, ACRL, ALSC, LAMA, LITA, PLA, RUSA, and YASL). He has served on the Caldecott, Newbery, and Printz award committees, the Best Books for Young Adults Committee, and the Notable Books Council.
