Special Forum at ALA - "John Cotton Dana Winners Tell All"

New York, New York, June 9, 2010
Secrets to developing outstanding community-centered library marketing campaigns will be the focus of a special ALA Conference forum sponsored by the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA). “John Cotton Dana Winners Tell All!” brings together experts from JCD award-winning libraries, to share the approaches to brainstorming, execution, and follow-up that helped them stand out from the crowd. The program is expected to last an hour and a half, including time for questions. Panelists include:

• Toni Tucker, Illinois State University
• Lori Coryell, Ypsilanti (Michigan) District Library
• Nancy Dowd, New Jersey State Library

Program Chair Judith Gibbons, ALA Councilor at Large, will moderate.

The John Cotton Dana (JCD) Award honors outstanding strategic communication for libraries: the art and craft of getting the right message to the right audience at the right time, for the right results. The John Cotton Dana honor has been awarded continuously since 1946 and is sponsored by H.W. Wilson and the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA). It is considered to be the most prestigious of all library awards in the field of public relations.

Entries for next year’s competition are due by December 3rd, 2010.
