Wilson Announces
Index to Legal
Periodicals Full Text
Database
Expedites Research with Complete
Articles from Noted Sources
New
York, New York, January 15TH,
2003
The
H.W. Wilson Company today announced
the debut of
Index
to Legal Periodicals Full Text, a new WilsonWeb
database based on the classic
reference Index to Legal
Periodicals & Books. Index
to Legal Periodicals Full Text delivers articles
cover to cover from some 180 select
sources—in full text and PDF page
images—in addition to detailed
indexing of some 840 periodicals and
some 1,400 monographs per year. The
database features more than 15,000
full-text records to start (articles
as far back as 1994), with new
entries being added in daily
updates. Index records reach as far
back as 1981.
This
is a valuable new resource for
attorneys, educators, business
people, law librarians, students,
paralegals, and others working with
the law. Users will appreciate
international coverage of legal
journals, law reviews, yearbooks,
and bar association, university, and
government publications—including
sources from the U.S., Great
Britain, Ireland, Canada, Australia,
and New Zealand.
Searching
by keyword, subject heading,
personal name, date, title words,
type of article or any combination
retrieves scholarly articles,
symposia, jurisdictional surveys,
court decisions, legislation, book
reviews, and more.
Index
to Legal Periodicals Full Text
also offers options for access to
articles that aren’t reflected in
full text. A library holdings
indicator, linking to the library’s
OPAC, lets users know if they’ll
find cited articles on the library’s
shelves. Article not there?
WilsonLink SFX-powered technology
(the only SFX database-linking
software that doesn’t require the
library purchase an expensive SFX
server) allows users to click from
citations on WilsonWeb databases to
the full text of articles on any
open-URL compliant database in the
library’s collection, at no added
cost to subscriptions. Users will
also appreciate built-in
document-delivery links to aid in
ordering actual articles, and links
to interlibrary loan options.
Besides
its technical advantages, Index
to Legal Periodicals
Full Text boasts the Wilson
editorial standards that make
WilsonWeb databases widely popular
in libraries worldwide. Quality
indexing—done by professionals who
are members of the bar—guarantees
user satisfaction with results.
Up-to-date subject headings (and a
dedicated subject thesaurus) keep
pace with developments in law.
Editorial decisions are guided by a
distinguished advisory committee,
including noted practitioners,
educators, and law librarians.
Subject coverage spans the wide
range of specialties in law.
The
precursor to Index to Legal
Periodicals Full Text, Index to Legal Periodicals &
Books, remains a popular
resource in libraries after more
than 50 years in publication.
Subscriptions are still available on
WilsonWeb, WilsonDisc, and in print.
Trial
subscriptions to Index to
Legal Periodicals Full
Text are available to librarians
and members of the working press.
