Libraries Association Conference (ABESPRI) on the challenges and
nuances of adapting the long-time library standard Sears List of
Subject Headings to Spanish language and Latin-American culture.

Debuting in April, Sears: Lista de
Encabezamientos de Materia will provide Spanish subject
authorities for bibliographic control of books and other library
materials. With over 9,000 headings, hundreds of general references
and instructions for adding new headings as needed, Sears: Lista
de Encabezamientos de Materia will help librarians catalog
Spanish and English-language materials with the appropriate Spanish
subject headings, serving Spanish-speaking patrons with
user-friendly subject access to their collections.
Its English-language precedent, Sears List of
Subject Headings, has served librarians for more than 80 years,
now in a new 19th Edition. Both volumes are published by the H.W.
Wilson Company.

About Dr. Iván E Calimano
Dr. Iván E Calimano teaches cataloging, classification and indexing
at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, San German Campus.
He brings broad experience in the areas of cataloging and
classification, including work with the Bilindex system, to the
development of Sears: Lista de Encabezamientos de Materia.
