Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals, long an acclaimed tool for research in architecture and design, is now available on WilsonWeb as part of the Wilson Art Suite. Teamed with precise and versatile WilsonWeb searching, today's richest record of architectural scholarship offers not just sharper access to important methods, theory, technology, people, history and issues, but also seamless searching with other Wilson Art Suite databases, including the art image database Art Museum Image Gallery, the full text articles database Art Full Text, and the retrospective research database Art Index Retrospective: 1929-1984.

Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals covers more than 700 periodicals in architecture, landscape architecture, city planning, historic preservation, and interior design and decoration, from the United States and around the world. Both scholarly and popular periodicals are represented, as well as publications of professional associations, U.S. state and regional periodicals, and the major serial publications on architecture and design of Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Australia.

Users search more than 610,000 articles, back to the 1930s--as well as select entries back to 1741. New records are added to the database in weekly updates. More than 13,000 obituary citations stretch back into the 19th century--an excellent source of biographical data, and often the only information available on less-publicized architects.

Founded in 1934 at the Avery Architectural and Fine Arts Library at Columbia University, Avery Index continues to grow there under the direction and support of the Getty Research Institute. H.W.
