Two New Yearbooks for Current Biography Family of References

New York, New York, March 1, 2005
Two new annuals have been published in the Current Biography family of references, H.W. Wilson today announced, featuring between them almost 400 in-depth profiles of people prominent in 2004.

Current Biography Yearbook 2004 and Current Biography International Yearbook 2004 offer objective, well-documented biographical profiles of living leaders in a wide range of fields of human accomplishment. Current Biography Yearbook 2004 delivers the complete content of all 2004 issues of the popular Current Biography monthly magazine, with updated information. Current Biography International Yearbook 2004 focuses exclusively on people making history and headlines outside the U.S., with original profiles written specifically for this resource, none of them previously published in the monthly issues of Current Biography or in the regular Current Biography yearbooks.

Current Biography Yearbook 2004 features 188 profiles in total—rich, engaging exploration of the lives of such notables as Jon Stewart, comedian and host of The Daily Show; choreographer Christopher Wheeldon; neurobiologist and gerontologist Caleb E. Rinch; California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger; Sean Patrick O'Malley, Archbishop of Boston; Lonnie Thompson, glaciologist; Lynne Cox, long-distance ocean swimmer; country musician Junior Brown; John A. Thain, CEO of the NY Stock Exchange; Joan Blades and Wes Boyd, founders of MoveOn; actress Charlize Theron, and many others. The volume also features a 60-page section of obituaries, a list of profiles by profession, and an index to profiles in the Current Biography monthly back to 2001.

Current Biography International Yearbook 2004 features 199 profiles, among them Iraqi religious leader Ali al-Sistani; Honduran peasant activist Elvia Alvarado; Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich; British actor Tom Baker; Amadou Mahtar Ba, president of AllAfrica Global Media; Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO of Nissan Motor Company; Nigerian lawyer Hauwa Ibrahim; Canadian hockey player Jarome Iginla; Maori playwright Hone Kouka; Dutch astronaut André Kuipers; Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, and many others. The volume also features lists of profiles classified by profession and by country, as well as an index of profiles from this volume and the 2002 and 2003 editions.

The Current Biography family of references also includes the WilsonWeb database Current Biography Illustrated, which features more than 25,000 articles and obituaries.

Current Biography has been described as "the most reliable source for biographical information on a wide range of current celebrities" by American Studies International. WilsonWeb's Current Biography Illustrated also holds the honor of being named a Library Journal Best Reference Source.
