New Reference Shelf Volume Explores Experiences and
Impact of a Growing Demographic

H.W. Wilson today announced Hispanic Americans, a new
work in the company's popular Reference Shelf book series.
Hispanic Americans surveys the growing cultural influence and
burgeoning political, economic, and social clout of a demographic
expected to grow six times as fast as the rest of the population
through the end of the decade, according to Census Bureau
projections.
Thirty articles from such leading sources as
The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Texas Monthly, National
Review, and others deliver a wide-ranging portrait of the
Hispanic population: its ethnic and regional diversity, political
currents, economic and cultural impact, controversies over
immigration, and the education of new generations of Hispanic youth,
including bilingual education. Hispanic Americans also
includes a bibliography of books, Web sites, and abstracts of
articles for further reading.
Hispanic Americans is the first title of
six to be released in The Reference Shelf 2007 (Volume 79). Each
book in the Reference Shelf series offers extensive exploration of a
current topic of importance in modern society, in a compilation of
notable articles from respected publications, plus abstracts of 20
to 30 additional articles and a bibliography of other sources.
