The American Family, new in the Wilson
Reference Shelf series, is a guide to the diversity of family lifestyles in
the United States today: homes led by divorced or single parents,
stepfamilies, interfaith and interracial marriages, gay partnerships,
childless couples, the traditional nuclear family, as well as many other
domestic structures. Issues in reproductive technology, including the
controversy of cloning, are also discussed.
The American Family
is the second of six books in The Reference Shelf 2003 series. The first of
the series, The Muslim World, was published in February. Forthcoming in
The Reference Shelf 2003 are Warfare in the 21st Century; Urban
Planning; Intellectual Property; and Representative American
Speeches 2002-2003. Libraries that order the complete set receive a
substantial discount.
Each book in The Reference Shelf series
offers complete exploration of a current topic, in a compilation of some 25
notable articles from respected publications plus abstracts of 20 to 30
additional articles and a bibliography of other sources.
Review copies of Reference Shelf volumes
are available for members of the working press.
