Cinema Image Gallery Grows by More
Than 21,000 Images
Lauded WilsonWeb Database Adds New Content, New Search
Options
New York, New York, June 9, 2009
More than 21,000 new images and valuable new search options have
been added to the acclaimed WilsonWeb database Cinema Image
Gallery. The new content reflects both recent and classic films,
and brings the total number of images in the database to more than
176,000. Films new to the database also link to biographical
additions and new review material. New search parameters include an
expanded list of film awards--now featuring Best Costume Design and
Best Screenplay--as well as Country of Production. Additionally, a
growing number of records now link to full video, free online.
Described by Library Journal as a "perfect
10," Cinema Image Gallery weds the most comprehensive
still-image archive of its kind to WilsonWeb's depth of full text
articles, biographical profiles, and versatile searching. The result
is both a useful tool for serious research in film studies, graphic
design, biography, media studies and beyond, and a fun and
approachable resource for movie lovers and fans of entertainment
stars back a century.
Searches yield scene stills, publicity shots,
movie posters and lobby cards, rare behind-the-scenes material and
more, from the 19th century to the present. An extensive tv stills
archive features images from classic and modern broadcasts:
comedies, dramas, game shows, variety shows, and more, plus
thousands of portrait shots of stars of the medium.
Entries link to biographical profiles from
Wilson's acclaimed Biography Reference Bank and full-text articles
and citations (including an abundance of film reviews) from any of
more than 4,500 popular and scholarly periodicals. These "More
Information" and "Biography" resources are constantly updated, as
new material is published about film works and stars. Entries also
link to IMDb (The Internet Movie Database) entries on the film in
question, as well as to other carefully vetted sites.
Films as recent as Jack Black's Year One,
Bruce Willis's Surrogates, Sandra Bullocks' The Proposal,
Monsters vs Aliens, Hotel for Dogs, Duplicity, and Jonas
Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience are represented in the
database. The new content encompasses 1,386 films new to the
database, and expands entries for 1,868 films already present.
Cinema Image Gallery will continue to grow with substantial
quarterly updates.
