New "Search Builder" Feature on WilsonWeb Search History Screen
New York, New York, July 19, 2006
WilsonWeb's redesigned Search History screen now includes a
"Search Builder" feature that lets users combine past searches,
refine searches, or create new ones.
"The new feature adds an important versatility to
research," commented Bernie Seiler, WilsonWeb product manager. "You
can modify an elaborate search without having to re-enter the
parameters or even remember which WilsonWeb databases you searched.
You can also easily check saved searches for references to new
people or terms as the topic evolves or news unfolds."
Users combine searches using reference numbers. A
dropdown box allows them to structure the new search with precision,
specifying "and," "or," or "not" with regard to the additional
search topics. Users can also combine searches by simply choosing a
saved search and entering a new term in the adjacent text entry box,
choosing "and" (the new term) "or," or "not" for precision.
The new "Search Builder" feature is one of many
WilsonWeb enhancements now in effect. Others include new
"Subject Pathfinder" links at the top of results screens that allow
users to search subtopics of their original search, or search
broader topics at a click. A new Spell Checker feature suggests
alternate spellings for proper names, corporate names, and any other
words that produce no hits in the user's search. The arrangement of
other WilsonWeb screens has also been refined, with more prominent
buttons and links that make WilsonWeb tools more accessible.
