H.W. Wilson today announced publication of
Current Biography Cumulated Index:
1940-2005, a tool to help researchers find any profile (or
obituary) published in Current Biography from its inception
through 2005. A valuable adjunct to Current Biography print
subscriptions, the volume steers users to the monthly issues and
yearbooks that feature the articles.
Users can now search one volume--a single
alphabetized list--for profiles from 65 years of coverage. Thorough
cross-references cover name variants, former names, pseudonyms, and
changes in title in the case of nobility. When two subjects have
exactly the same name, their occupations are listed in brackets
after their names to distinguish them. Joint articles--such as
profiles of musical bands or business partnerships--are indexed by
the name of the joint entity as well as by the names of individual
members.

practical for ethnic studies, women's studies, literary research,
and other areas beyond straight biographical research.
