Now you can make informed decisions about retirement,
with this up-to-date and thorough resource. The volume delivers guidance
in four key areas: housing, health care, retirement income and finances,
and legal concerns. Each chapter provides a wealth of useful information
and resources.
Unique to Facts About Retiring is its presentation of housing alternatives
on a state-by-state basis, alongside facts about the state’s climate, cost
of living, taxes, major transportation, travel and tourism, and more.
Housing options are organized by categories: continuing care retirement
communities (also called life care communities), residential health care
facilities (also called assisted living or personal care), independent
living, and residential/adult/resort communities. Readers will use this
reference to learn about rates, accommodations, services, and amenities,
as well as the facts on licensing, accreditation, and more.
The volume is also enhanced with lists of elder hostel and other
travel-related agencies, as well as retirement counselors and consultants.
Readers will also find planning tools, such as worksheets and
questionnaires, to evaluate communities. A glossary, bibliography, and
index are included.
