District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico are assembled in this easy-to-use
handbook. Major subdivisions include basic information; geography and
climate; history; demography; government and politics; finances; economy;
and culture and education. Three selective bibliographies (of monographs
only) are also included for each state: the state in literature; guides to
resources; and selected nonfiction sources. A section of comparative
tables, which rounds out the work, includes area and population density;
demography; order of settlement and admission to statehood; geographic
characteristics; transportation; education; Defense Department
expenditure; and presidential vote….the low cost and ease of use of this
tool may make this a valuable addition to larger reference collections.
