At first glance, this work
reminds one of the CIA's The World Fact Book 1999, but Facts
provides information not available in the CIA book. It offers a detailed
history of each nation, sometimes going into great detail, and also
includes information on geography, constitution and government,
international relations, economy, communications, and Web sites both
official and unofficial. It is lacking in two major areas: the maps lack
any detail and are useful only in locating the country in relation to
surrounding countries (there is no world map); and there is no subject or
keyword index, which would be very useful in locating historical
information. Despite these problems, this book is recommended for all
readers and all libraries.
