Q.: What does this WWII bomber have in common with the hit tv series "Sisters"?

Please enjoy these nuggets of trivia our Current Biography editors came across in crafting upcoming biographical profiles...

Actress Swoosie Kurtz's name is derived from that of "The Swoose," a B-17 bomber that her father, one of the most-decorated pilots of World War II, once flew. (The bomber itself was named after a line in a popular Kay Kyser song: "Half swan, half goose/ Alexander is a swoose.")

Elinor Ostrom is the first woman in the history of the Nobel Prize to win in the category of economics.

Upon receiving a call notifying him that he had won the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Venkatraman Ramakrishnan assumed he was the target of a practical joke and complimented the caller on his fake Swedish accent.

The acclaimed photographer Roy DeCarava once worked as a sign painter for the New Deal-era Work Projects Administration.
